Why is Pol Pot the image for this group?

As someone who has two giant Mao posters in his room and one Stalin and a Lenin, Pol Pot sucks.

I agree. Though I think it's there just too poke fun at liberals. I would prefer Lenin Stalin or Mao, the ultimate ideological opponents of liberalism.

Pol Pot is the most horror guy for liberal, he managed to kill the country within short time unlike Stalin or Mao. (Neon glasses ftw)

But more Liberals associate our ideology with Stalin. Perhaps he should be the picture just to annoy liberals.

Perhaps, but I just love Pol Pot's cheeky grin.

Also, way to break the combo

I know. I need a neon avatar too. Hopefully Arizona Bay will make it soon. We're bourgeois for oppressing him like that. xD
  7. GracchusBabeuf
We should have a neon avatar for the group!
  8. bailey_187
Pol Pot with Neon Avatars should be the group pic

That would be cool. AZB, could you make a neon kanye-glasses pol pot picture of suitable size, when you feel like it?

As a note, Pol Pot did NOT kill 1.5 or 1.7 or 2 million people. At most it was about 600,000. Please note the imperialist bombing of the cities of Cambodia at the time (the reason he evacuated) killed over 1 million of his so-called "victims" between the famine caused by destruction of rice paddies and the widespread disease in the cities as a result.

It's not quite so simple as "Pol Pot SUCKS," which is ironic to see in a group advocating combating and not spreading liberalism.

Lenin II - I agree with everything you said there (Although I am not as well-read enough on the subject to make a comment on the death toll), that doesn't make Pol Pot any less of a primitivist closely allied with Dengist revisionists.

Also I will get around to doing a neon avatar for this group.

What the heck? I cannot actually remember joining this group. Ah well. I was going to join it anyway. I just ask for you people to please swap the image of pol pot for anyone. I do not really see what he has to do with combating liberalism to be honest.

I mean, there is taking a realistic look at things and understanding that in the end all liberalism really ends up helping is the ruling class, and then, there is that of identifying with dictators who frankly got it badly wrong (even if it is a joke). Sorry If I have upset anyone there.

This is a good idea for a group as liberalism definitly needs people to take a more sceptical look at it, rather than it just being seen as one of the saving graces of humanity all the time (as it is in the history books).

Pol Pot was not a primitivist. I seriously challenge you to quote anything that proves he is. If you count moving people to the countryside as "primitivist," then Mao was a primitivist as well.

If you read Khmer Rouge documents, it clearly says that Pol Pot thought society had collapsed and that the workers and peasants must move out into the countryside and "build" capitalism and socialism "back up." This is not the same as a primitivist and the accusation smacks of oversimplification.

I think Mao stressed the most anti-liberal creed, out of everyone.

Also, a neon avatar would be jolly.

These are best for learning about Pol Pot, Democratic Kampuchea, Khmer Rouge and Kampucheas condition and how the Khmer Rouge tried to handle it.

I should note I do not support the Khmer Rouge, who were a revisionist puppet of social-imperialist China. But hey, still, 2 million people is a ridiculous number.

That weak theory pretty much was primitivism in practice. He had some strong petty-bourgeois nationalist ideas concerning the Angkor Wat too.

Fuck Pol Pot-he's even worse then Stalin, he did absolutely NOTHING good. He didn't train doctors, he had them executed for wearing glasses. He didn't build schools, he converted them into torture chambers. A friend of mine visited the Tuol Seng prison museum in Cambodia, where 14,000 political prisoners passed through and only 12 came out alive. Pol Pot's grand accomplishment is murdering two million men, women, children, and babies and would have killed many more had not the REAL socialists the Vietnamese army intervened and destroyed his fascist ass. I'm all for pissing off liberals too, but Pol Pot? No way!!
