Hi BD,
We didn't move from Jura by choice, we were told we were no longer welcome to hold meetings there. I quote from the email statement made from Jura to myself (on behalf of the group):
As the initiative behind the CSDC comes from a proponent of ICC politics... and judging from the proceedings of the initial meeting of the CSDC at Jura, it appears that the main thrust of the discussion circle is towards ICC politics.
[...] As Jura is an anarchist and left-libertarian organisation, and its main aim is to promote anarchist ideas and anarchist and left-libertarian approaches to politics, the Collective feels that the political direction of the CSDC is incompatible with the aims of Jura.
Although you describe yourselves as an 'open discussion group' we feel that the CSDC is the first step towards forming a political group with an ICC agenda. If we had initially been more aware of the political direction of the CSDC, and of the anti-anarchist position of the ICC, it is doubtful that the Collective would have consented to the CSDC meeting being held at Jura in the first place.
In other words, the decision was made on the basis that the initiative for the forum came from a Marxist and allowed the participation of Marxists.
The group has not put together a formal reply to Jura.
Personally, I think (or atleast would hope) the matter is all a misunderstanding based on what a representative of the Jura Collective witnessed before walking out less than half way through the meeting. As you can see by the minutes, and the participants involved, the CSDF is neither a political group, nor a political group in disguise as we have been accused of being.
Given the cost of using the Humanist House, we are now looking for another venue. Given that we had a member of the Black Rose collective (Anarchist from Greece, M) present at our first meeting and on the googlegroups e-list of the forum, we are considering Black Rose as a possible location (more than this I won't say since it is only proposed at this stage and there have been no formal decisions made on this). Alternatively we will may an appropriate cafe. If you have any suggestions post them or drop a line at: class_struggle[at]googlegroups.com
P.S. If you'd like to be signed up for the e-list, let me know.
P.P.S. You weren't at the last meeting. Couldn't come? Didn't tickle your fancy?
