Solidarity brigade

I would like to recomend going on a solidarity brigade to Cuba. Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP) arrange solidarity brigades for cuban solidarity groups around the world. In additon to expirience what a average turist would expirience, like the museum of the revolution, Che's monument, Plaza del la Revolution, the Jose Marti monument and the beach. You will get to visit schools, hospitals and co-operative farms. There are classes/meetings where you get to hear about the democracy, economy, the revolution (from some revolutionary veterans) and everything else about Cuban culture and society.

Solidarity work is also a part of the program, tho it has become less important now then it was some 30 years agow. I had hoped there where a lot more cuting sugar canes. But when i was there for 5 weeks we worked 7 days picking oranges and beans, so you see not much. You will be staying at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp (CIJAM) west south-west of Havana.
Each day in the camp you will be waken by ‘Guantanamera’ and other Cuban classics played over the speakers.

I know this thread is quite old now, but I went with the Venceremos Brigade, and it was an amazing experience.
