Discussion board?

I've been asking some comrades individually about this, but I might just start a thread on this. Would it be a good idea to start a CWI discussion board? The IMT has this in the form of the YFIS boards.

I think it would be a good idea as it enables comrades from all over the world to easily communicate with eachother. But there are some issues aswell: who is going to admin it? where is it going to be hosted? how do we ensure a steady and rising traffic?

I'm willing to host the board on the place we also host the Dutch website, the url will then be something like http://forums.socialisten.net and am also willing to mod it. However, the traffic worries me a bit and I would like to hear ideas about that.

Well, I am not very knowledgable in the technical details, but I would be very much in approval of this. In fact i and a couple of comrades have been planning for the (or actually relaunching) launching of an internet discussionboard for the swedish section, in order to more easily keep up to date what's going on in the otehr chapters. of course this would be even better with an international forum.

For clarity sake: with "traffic" I meant "how the hell do we ensure it'll not be a dead forum and comrades actually use this thing?"
But I'm glad you like the idea so far.

Oh well, I just started a board and setted up some initial forums. Let's see how this goes.

So, invite as many people as you can! Everyone who isa member or is interested in the CWI is welcome!

well, yeah. What we would need is actual official sanction.

Au contraire, we don't really need it. Recognition would be useful however (as a motivator).

After some requests by several comrades I took down the boards, at least for now. Update will follow after some discussion.

Ok, as several people have asked me already, I'll just put up an explanation for everyone to see:

The forum was taken down on strong urging of the International Secretariat, Belgian Secretariat and several Secretariat members here in the NL. There were two reasons used for this:
    1. The forum was named "CWI Worldforum" and while I offered to change the name the argument lasted because "a forum maintained by CWI members would/could still be seen as an official CWI platform". We would "spend massive amounts of time defending our positions against attackers" because the forum would "quickly degenerate" (in fact, it was suggested that this already was the case). Only internal discussion was deemed acceptable.
    2. I started the forum without consulting the leadership. That was deemed unacceptable. I'll safe the namecallings from you.
