I guess you could say my influences and tastes vary, but the question is "how much is just lyrical influence?" and the answer is "most of it, betch!"
I normally find out months later what I was unconsciously influenced by when writing a song, and it's usually something outside of the genre that I aim at. However, in terms of playing style my biggest influence is probably JJ Burnell of The Stranglers. I sat down and tried to copy his bass lines off the first few Stranglers albums to learn my instrument.

Kyuss are amazing. Electric Wizard are great too. I picked up "Let Us Prey" like five or six years ago on a whim. I liked the album well enough, but for some reason I just didn't get into the band. I know they've got a pretty good-sized catalog these days, do you have any suggestions?
