As an entertainer and cultural intellect he is incredibly interesting. As a political actor, he is fucking terrible.
"but he's so nice" - so is my nan and she still calls people darkies, so what. To be fair, we've spent years being told that we love him so it's no surprise that it's rubbed off on a lot of people. For the record I find A Bit of Fry and Laurie pretty hysterical, but as I think someone else might have said it's perfectly possible to separate the person from their achievements.
