It's a quote I found on some online magazine or something called "Race Traitor". I picked it to rustle people's jimmies and also because it's one of those incredibly bold and extreme statements that I find hilarious. Anyway in this context it's talking about "whiteness" as a sort of social status and not as an ethnic group or anything -- because historically whiteness has nothing to do with where you come from. The irish certainly weren't considered "white" way back when, for example.
