I started learning hieroglyphic from James Allen's grammar a few years ago and can read it to a very limited extent. The Egyptians were fairly progressive for an ancient society, even about women, compared to Mesopotamia or Canaan. If Djehuti had taught them a little better they might have invented socialism. But it was a rough world back then, having worms & smallpox.
