Yeah I need to check out if there are any nearby actually, it might be a better idea to build on top of another existing commune. Imagine the day where every farm in the country is owned by commies...
-sorry clicked post on accident- I've thought about starting one before with a few buddies or people I know who consider themselves socialists, but before I would do something like that I've always wanted to visit a few already existing communes to see how they do things, maybe just tour them. I've also talked to some people over RevLeft and occasionally talk to someone who has the same idea as well.

I agree, I mean if you look at the open source software movement it's like socialism in practice, but with co-ops actual tangible commodities are produced, so I guess you have to be a little bit of a 'Socialism in one controlled area' believe. And I seem to remember that thread, if it's the same one I'm thinking of. I read that article and thought it was pretty cool. Reading about that and some of the egalitarian communes is what actually got me interested in co-ops.
Yeah lol. Obviously it's no perfect solution, but I don't see how people could disagree with the idea of at least trying to give us a small head start. I actually posted a thread with a link to an article about a Spanish co-operative farm in Marinaleda a while back, and while some said it was useless, no one really attacked the idea.
Well thanks, I hope it does. I just like the idea because there seems to be so much disagreement between the vanguardists and the anarchists, it seems like one is on steroids and the other is on opiates, I thought the cooperative thing was a mutual method.
