Conversation Between A Marxist Historian and Die Neue Zeit

To be more specific, see my comments for my role model "International": http://louisproyect.wordpress.com/20...ists/#comments
  2. Die Neue Zeit
Get with the science, dude! I just replied re. base-superstructure, quoting some of my earlier work on your e-mail reading list somewhere.

That's not I take it the "recent" thread you were referring to?

Thoughts on revolutionary provisional governments? http://www.revleft.com/vb/revolution...083/index.html
  7. Die Neue Zeit
If that's the case, then I think proletocratic and proletocracy sound much better. They have both educational value as well as agitational value.

I did do a critique. I wanted to post comrade Macnair's article as a lead-in to my own discussions, which I haven't posted until you play ball:

Besides, those two discussions are already in my work. The basic thrust from my end is that "workers government" is a woefully flawed concept.
  9. Die Neue Zeit
Did you check out my e-mail commentary on People's Histories? It's also a Theory thread on this board.

Thanks. We Sparts really are more economically sophisticated than other Trotskyoids. You should really read some of Joseph Seymours's stuff, he's the guy I get most of what I say about economics from.

Particularly his brilliant pamphlet, "Why the Soviet Union Is Not Capitalist," with a lot of excellent economic analysis of how the Soviet Union etc. actually worked. You'd probably find his "Lenin and the Vanguard Party" pamphlet even more interesting, it deals directly with the issues you like to raise here.

Either orderable easily off the Spartacist website, or purchaseable directly from Spartacists in Berlin or Hamburg. $2 or 1.5 euros. Here's the pamphlet list on their website, with the clickable order form. And they don't even charge shipping. Contact info for the German Spartacists elsewhere on the website.
