Minimum wage in my state is eight bucks an hour but it still does little to deter the high COL. I cannot apply for food stamps or other aid because I have a bank account.

What's the minimum wage in your state? Is your job pretty industry standard? Does the money you make exclude you from other benefits (e.g. food stamps)?
