Conversation Between mosfeld and Salyut

  1. Salyut
I'll see what I can do.
  2. mosfeld
You should note that the slogans of the boycott ("vote with your feet", "no democracy without people's power") are very "abstract", so to speak, and could be a unifying point for various revolutionaries whether Anarchist, Left-com or Maoist who want a real revolutionary movement and not a bourgeois tailist or parliamentary cretinist one. I think you and your comrades should join the boycott movement on your own terms, if that makes sense.

I've read about the Canadian situation a bit. Technically, there is an implicit boycott going on since, iirc, the majority of Canadians do not vote and are disillusioned with bourgeois democracy. I think the point of the boycott is to make that implicit boycott an explicit boycott.

The elections are over now, but you know, there's always a next time! You could maybe talk it over with your comrades in the SPC?
  3. Salyut
Well I'm currently in the Socialist Party of Canada (essentially the North American SPGB). Anti-election but I don't think the two parties are aware of each other. SPC regards Leninist and co. parties as revisionist (ultra-orthodox marxism you see...); I really wish we could work with them but I'm not the one making the rules.

I think that a break from social-democracy, legalism, parliamentary cretinism, etc, is something Maoists and Left-communists can unite on. Have you and your Left-communists considered joining the boycott campaign of the RCP?
  5. Salyut
I like them for some reason - although I'm a left com. The militant rhetoric is a really nice change from the status quo.
  6. mosfeld
I'm not from Canada or a member of the RCP, but I am a supportive outsider
  7. Salyut
Are you involved with the Canadian RCP? I've never seen anyone else aware of their existence.
