Regarding suburbs - I remember seeing the first of them about 20 years ago, when I lived in Quebec. They were a series of identical houses, the most conspicuous of which was built right beside Autoroute 15. Why anyone would want to live in such a noisy, generic neighbourhood was beyond me. It still is.
