I like them, but their lirycs were very depressing. No too much revolutionary.

In the box set interviews they claim to be anti-nazi (but clearly in an ironic post modern sort of way).
While not a nazi himself, Ian Curtis held a peculiar fascination for nazi era Germany. At his wedding the party sang to the tune of the German national anthem and the band was named after the unit in the SS that raped jewish women.

More useless Ian Curtis trivia-
When they found him hanging in his bathroom 'the idiot' by Iggy Pop was playing in his LP player on a repeating loop. He'd also been watching german film noir and drinking gin.

Can I mention the Wombats?
They killed Joy Division for me. JD are still a great band though.

Good band, but I can't listen to them for too long because they are so fucking depressing.

Well to sum it all up, if ever considering suicide, Joy Division would be the band to play. However personally I could be tempted to play Barry Manilow during the act, however that's depressing on another level.

If you want real depressing, try Scott Walker.
