To anyone in the Los Angeles area, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (www.PSLWeb.org (http://www.PSLWeb.org)) is running Carlos Alvarez for mayor. Mr. Alvarez is a long-time political activist and a leader of the A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism) Coalition. Carlos has been an active community organizer in fighting for social reform, notably his activism in working for immigrant rights in the United States and to fight the bigoted Proposition 8 in California. The issues below represent Carlos Alvarez's campaign and the campaigns of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
FIGHTING L.A.'s CORPORATE BOSSES
Full employment—good jobs for all. Job training for youth & unemployed.
No cutbacks for social services. No layoffs for city workers.
Housing is a right for all—Immediate moratorium on all foreclosures & evictions. Stop gentrification & build affordable housing now.

Raise L.A.’s minimum wage to $15/hour.

Invalidate Prop. 8. Legalize same-sex marriage & LGBT equality now.

Lower the voting age to 16 years old.

We need an economy based on people’s needs, not making the rich richer.
I implore everyone to research the Party for Socialism and Liberation and if possible, become active in their campaigns. In 2008, the Gloria La Riva/Eugene Puryear campaign pulled over 7,000 votes while on the ballot in 12 states; more votes than any other socialist candidate running for office.
