Hey all,
I'm looking at becoming more involved in the struggle. Do any of you have experience with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative?
I'm considering joining. I have one of their texts which is entitled The Right is Wrong and the Left Is Right - Cutting through the Neoliberal Bafflegab.
However, I don't want to join if they're simply a centrist organization clothed in leftist language.
They seem to be relatively silent on the subject of sexuality, not that they're not supportive, but it's like they think the struggle in that area is almost complete in Canada.
Thanks all!
Mike

They're a "social-democratic" bunch. However, their recent studies on the living wage figures for Toronto, Vancouver, and Victoria are good.

They're Dem-Socs that like to use leftist language. My Sociology profs cream their pants over them though... goes to show how "Marxist" university professors are.

It depends why you're interested in getting involved with them, or how. As has been mentioned, they're social democrats. There's sort of a spectrum. It's not a radical organization. They do produce useful research, and I think the people involved are nice people, even if they can be deluded or misdirected - again, Canadian social democrats.
What exactly do you mean in terms of getting involved with them?

Thanks all,
If they're social democrats I don't think I'll bother with them. When I said I wanted to get involved, I meant not necessarily with them, but want to make a leap from arm chair theorist to practical work. I thought they might be an option, now I don't believe so.
Thanks again!

Well if you've read any of their articles (I've read quite a few of them for my sociology classes) you can tell that they don't advocate for anything more radical than reformism and a return to the Welfare State.
