Who wants to come to a big lefty rally I'm planning in Bedford, United Kingdom (soon to be United People's Republics).

It'll probably be held sometime in the summer (British weather permitting!!!:)) On Bedford's college campus and/or one of the parks. I was hoping it would be a general lefty get-together with no particular agenda, but I'm sure we can tei in with protesting about college prices and/or taking a stand against the BNP in East Anglia.

It'll probably be fairly informal, because I havn't asked any relavent authorities and don't plan to, but this isn't East Germany, and public meetings of 8 people and more are not forbidden by the state, so we should be alright.

But before this happens I'm going to have to get some "maybees" (don't say definately yet, because I havn't worked out a date yet).

Please "sign up" otherwise It'll just be me and a small paper flag!!!:(

Post here please.

If you can get this properly organised then why not?

'Meh'

It's to much hassle filling in health and saftey forms (etc. etc.). And we would probably have to pay the council something.

Beurocracy can't stop us all turning up at the same time.

I'm sorry but are you an idiot?

You sign up here and ask people to come to a gathering that you have planned without any political context attached to it, 'as long as you are a lefty'?

No, I don't think so.

Also, I suggest that the people who do plan on going bring with them some weapons and buddies, to make it a fair fight. :)

Alright, alright calm down.

This might be an opportunity to show modern Britain that the left is still extremely politically active.

And what do you mean "make it a fair fight"!!!

You're coming over as an agent provocateur, that's what I mean.

There is a feeling that you might be someone from Redwatch or something like that - that your goal is to map leftists.

I don't really think so. My current inclination is that you probably are a very naive individual. But I have been wrong before.

You don't know me. But I can tell you that I go around wereing a hammer and sickle badge on my hat, i'd happily firebomb the ****s that call themselves the BNP and if you're worried that I am a BNP member trying to trap you, would I try and do it in the middle of a college campus full of other people in broad daylight? And would I come across so blatently obvious?

I use lefties as a term of affection and I call myself one. Whats the harm in that?

I'm 14 years old for goodness sake. My grandfather fought in the war. He told me that 9 times out of 10 his was the only plane to come back because of the fascist-controlled lufwaffe.

If anything, I'd be more interested mapping far-right parties.

Well judging from your straight off the bat enthusiasm it was a toss up between being a teen and a troll. You have to understand that people will be immediately suspicious of anyone calling for names and addresses and asking for people to meet up under the title of an organisation that isn't established. (as far as google is concerned!) We have a history of infiltration attempts by neonazi types (check my signature for an example of one) so we're always a bit jumpy.

I didn't mean to alarm anyone, its just that I'm keen to get politically active straight away. I know you're bound to be jumpy about anyone asking for names and addresses, but I only want to get the Socialist Progressive Party going so we can start our ballot box revolution (that's really fast secirity checking by the way).

As for teenager and troll is there any difference:)?

Not only did you post a replica thread on United Comrades, you also tried to grab people's addresses on there.. unitedcomrades.com/forums/index.php?topic=448.msg4097#new
No entry fee required, Ill send membership card and party manifesto through post if you give address.

Either you're very stupid or very fascist or very police or all of them.

I'm probably very stupid. But i'm not a fascist or police, I genuinly wanted to get to gether with some other leftists, but if you don't want to come, or if you think these posts are suspicious, I'll remove them. My "off the bat enthusiasum" is simply that: enthusiasum, and I got a bit carried away (usually do).

The reason I was trying to get addresses is because I can't send membership cards (especially membership cards) or party manifestos through the net.

best to join a group rather then setting up one that wont get anywhere to be honest.

This is true. Its pointless setting up a new group, especially if you're quite young and inexperienced and on your own. You would be better off jonining another, pre-existing leftist group and maybe setting up a local chapter for them.
