Today we are in the middle of a war against humanity. Gaza is the frontline
and the untold misery is incalculable. These are dark days but perhaps also our finest hour.
No matter what one has to say about Hamas. Israel has ventured beyond the very limits set by imperialism. One does not bomb one's own institutions.
The ruling class split is coming into the open. It is not for nothing that Israel choose to time this massacre for Obama. He dared put talking to "terrorists" on the agenda. They have presented him with this fait accompli to weaken his resolve. They are asking the great liberal saviour to endorse fascist/nazi type behaviour that no amount of propaganda can hide.
Obama will say nothing. He will talk about negotiations, and try to deflect public attention till Israel gets the message that it the continuing massacre is embarrassing Democratic Party public relations too much.
I say this not because I have faith in Obama's good will . No that if anything is a side event. There is always the matter of re-election.
Why I say this is because of the economy. There are indications that the good will of America's creditors is being usurped. This crisis is global but it
has its roots in the US. The banks got too big for their boots after they crippled militant trade unionism and elevated consumerism above all that was oppositional to privatization.
This hubris became known as neo-conservatism. The idea of "full spectral''
dominance was the very philosophy of money expansion to every area of human society. Implicit in this the very death of the human soul. Greed over grace.
But this plan could never work. Humanity is flexible and it can adapt but it cannot be crushed.
In the United States, the American dream took epic militaristic proportions
backed up by its puppet regimes including the UK and Israel.
Now the show is collapsing.
The money is dwindling, and the squeeze is on the public purse, is the background to the moral bankruptcy of attacking an oppressed people and its international support.
It is the bully empire's last stand. The more they escalate their military bubble the less the already emerging economies will find themselves able to trust them. If Obama does nothing, the message will be we think we can mess anyone about.
Obama ultimately has to reign in Israel so as to successfully wind down
the empire as the emerging economies stake their place in an increasingly
multipolar world.
A multipolar world as opposed to a unipolar world will increase the confidence of the working class and increase their ability to vote in governments they prefer without the fear of what happened to Allende and sanctions against those governments who have dared nationalize, at least part of their industries, for instance.
Obama more than any other President is caught between a rock and a hard place.
