A 14 year old boy was allegedly shot in the head by members of PSP, a special police unit in Lisbon, according to an article on Indymedia Germany. Is there someone from Portugal here who knows more?

May I ask why the teenager was shot by the police? I need to know the story before I can define a judgment into this matter, but I feel sad for the boy.
I wish I knew why the child was shot though as that is needed for me to really make a judgment on the police officers actions.

Damn, these police need to learn how to shoot better or not at all... There probably won't be big riots in Portugal though, but if there are I'm sure it will make the capitalists scared.

Apparently it is true, from what can be found out by google-translated articles from the portuguese press three people where driving around in a stolen car when they were stopped by the police. The cops believed one of them to be armed and apparently shot at them in order to prevent them from fleeing (?). The 14-year-old was shot through the head, brought to a hospital and declared dead there.
It seems to be either a stupid overreaction by the cops involved or someone's attempt to enforce law&order the hard (and deadly) way. I hope there'll be further information, for the moment I think the overuse of violence by the police is to be condemned but it's too early to say whether it was a sort of "accident" and the cop panicked seeing something he thought to be a gun or whether they really just opened fire in order to prevent some youths from getting away in a stolen car.
EDIT: Apparently, the name of the victim is Elson Sanches. The shooting happened yesterday evening at around 9:00. He and his two friends had left the allegedly stolen car when the cop (who, according to "Correio da Manha", a portuguese tabloid, had been chasing them before, at least that's what I think the article says) saw one of them (according to correio da manha)/Elson (according to "Publico", a "newspaper of record") hold a gun and fired, claiming self-defence. His colleagues and "police specialists" support that claim. Elsons Sanches' mother however says her son was "a normal kid who never used weapons" and that the cop killed him "by evil".
