I am writing this without using my keyboard.

I'm using a program called Dragon naturally speaking, it's pretty good. you can download it from a torrent site. It's a voice-recognition program that allows you to talk into your microphone and then writes what you say wherever you want.

If you have a good microphone it works pretty good, and well worth the download. You can also set commands.

So yeah, check it out.

I tried Dragon speaking out nearly ten years ago. Back then it was crap. You had to do hours of voice recognition training with it (like 20 hours or something) and even after that it didn't work very well. It misunderstood like every other word and you had to talk very slowly.

But I guess it is better now. Took them a decade!

I wish someone would create a program that can do the reverse process in voices other than that horrible Stephen-Hawking-esque robot tone.

There are many that have existed for a long time. Readplease (readplease.com/english/downloads/#rp2003) seems to be a decent free one for Windows.

As for voice recognition software, I hear good things about IBM ViaVoice.
