View Full Version : Hello from a civil left-leaning American moderate.

I’m a left-leaning moderate wondering where America should draw the line. I think that pure capitalism does not work. It results in near monopolies where some people get most of the wealth and many people practically die in the streets. Yet, I also believe that pure socialism does not work for the nation as a whole. There is nearly no incentive to be more successful when the results of such effort would be distributed to other people who do not care to strive better themselves.

Still, I am disappointed in the Bush administration and think that it is time to move the proverbial bar more to the left – but not too far to the left. I’m happy that Obama won.

Besides thinking and reading about political philosophy, I’m into health/fitness and I’m a student of health careers.

Just so you know before hand, you are going to be restricted to the Opposing Ideologies boards.

This keeps from us constantly having to argue with non-leftists in forums related to socialist theory, action, etc.

Welcome to RevLeft anyway, (or OI)

Well since you're not restricted yet, let me try to save your soul before it's too late!

Humbug. In America, think of all the people spending hours upon hours at developing "the most successful fantasy football team" among their friends and acquaintances, even though hard work results in little more than bragging rights, and there is rarely a material distribution of the rewards. Or the people who perfect their martial art that hardly anyone else has ever heard of.

Comrade, moderacy in a time of crisis and the oppression of billions of people is not needed.

However, welcome to revleft and I hope you enjoy discussing and learning. Together, we have a world to win.
