I quite like the Iranian music that I have heard, and would be willing to give some a listen. However, YouTube is banned in Turkey. Of course it is possible to access it anyway, but I would need the actual link addresses. Could you put them up, please?

Anyway, you're probably right about the modern pop-ish songs I posted at the end of the list, but I have no idea how that applies to the other songs.

I used to live in Ahwaz in Iran for a year back in the 70s. Had to move back to England though because of the Revolution. Use to have a great link for Iranian music but I can't find the link now. :(

Doe a bit more on the classical side of Iranian music, artists like Homayoun Shajarian, Shahram Nazeri & Kayhan Kalhor are true household names in the Persian & Middle-Eastern music scene..

Yes, classical Iranian music is also good, but there's also a lot of "modern" music that is very good and that is less known to a lot of people. The image about the Iranian music scene in the west is that it consists of mostly classical music, but there's a lot more to it.

I don't really listen to a lot of the classical music because I like the other music better, if there's anyone else who does feel free to post it.

Everyone's taste mate :) ,your topic title said 'Iranian music' so thats the reason why I replyed some classical artists..

Also look out for Ata Ebtekar aka. Sote an Iranian-German producer who released a EP on the Warp label where artists like Aphex Twin & Autechre gained worldwide recognition..
