Would anyone recommend this?

I'm a little cautious about buying it.

I fancy reading it though as an alternative to yet another Che biography or whatever. I would like an insight into what shaped the beliefs of arguably the world's most famous and certainly most recognisable revolutionary.

Edit: for some reason I thought you were talking about the film adaptation when I posted originally (maybe because I just saw the Che film the other night)

if you want to read it to learn some thoery then dont bother but if you want to read it to learn about che as a pperson then i would definitly recommend it. its ok and a good read but its nothing of revolutionary value if you want to learn i got his bolivian diary recently and im guessing it will be a mix of his ideas and his life

Thanks. I'm not interested in it for theory. Plenty of free internet sources for that ;) It's always enticed me but I have held out for a while due to uncertainty.

well you are not looking for a theory read then id get it. its an easy book to read and is quite enjoyable and a good insite into che as a person :thumbup1:

Definitly get the film and read the book, it totally goes against the bourgious opinion that has dominated the media that he was a murderous tyrant (and nothing but). Infact it pisses on it. He may not have totally clean hands but he still was a very influential figure of history, without actually ruling anyone directly.

It's a pretty good book. In a way, it reminds me of a South American version of On the Road, sans drugs.

Definitely. The film focused on all the poignant parts like the Chilean mining couple. The book also has funny parts. I think I was 15 when I read it - obviously quite formative, so if you have a little brother who's under the spell of the "communists-are-bloodthirsty-thugs" doctrine, lend him it
