Hello everyone,

I've been lurking around here for a moth or two already and made three posts or something, so I decided it's time for me to introduce myself.

I'm RedArno, I'm a 17 year old male from Belgium, still attending high school. Next year I'm planning to go to uni and study history. I'll probably also join a left-winged movement then and become more active.
I'm still pretty new with left ideologies, but I find myself very attracted to the Cuban socialist way. Especially on education, which I think is very important to be free and accessible for every single human being. Culture is power! :pThus I like reading and movies a lot.

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. Enjoy!

Edit: Sorry if my English isn't very good, but you'll have to take it as it is. :p

I think your English is pretty good, welcome! :)
If you're interested in socialist ideas and Belgian news on workers struggles and political activity, I suggest the LSP/PSL website (socialisme.be), which has tons of it. Maybe you could even join a public meeting which they organise very frequently :)

Welcome, comrade from Belgium! :) Come and check out the Dutch-language forums, it's clearly the most fun part of RevLeft.

I see two people promoting different parties/collectives/whatever. I'm a member of the Communist Youth in the Netherlands myself. We work together with the Belgian movement Comac on a lot of things, their website can be seen here: http://chengetheworld.org/ From what I've seen, they are a growing movement, with increasing support at schools and universities. Also, they consistently show internationalism, including full solidarity with Cuban socialism. Something I can't say for the other groups mentioned here. But in the first place, think and see for yourself, there is a multitude of left groups everywhere, but nobody should feel pressured into joining one just because someone loudly advertises it.

Well, there is one thing, before I shut up. :p Comac also organise the "Camp for Peace" (Vredeskamp) every summer. I always go there with other Dutch comrades. It's easily both the most fun and informative event. This summer, there were 149 people, I had a great time. Pictures from this year: http://www.chengetheworld.org/nl/index.php?op=page&pid=2524

And before I forget: merry Christmas! :)

Yeah, every year in July/August we have the international summerschool and we just concluded the International Executive Committee meeting of the CWI (how often do they meet? Once or twice a year? Hmm, I should look that up.)

It does though, just a few more days and the "Center for Work and Income" ceases to exist :)

Welcome,

You look like me when I joined in 2006. I just became 18, I wanted to study history in Ghent, I knew my English was awful (yours is better though), I intended to join a leftist grouping at univeristy and I only had a vision of an "ideal world".

What's different was that I were some sort of animal rights activist on my own (that's why my nickname was raccoon back then), that I was a reservist and that I wasn't really fond of the Cuban way. Lol.

Don't forget to visit either the Dutch or French language section (depends on the language you speak of course).

A warm welcome for you, comrade compatriot!

Feel at home. And we all have enough to learn to keep us busy for a lifetime!
