Religion itself isn't the issue. I consider myself to be a Christian and I believe that Jesus's message was to make society & the community a much more important factor than the individual. The problem is organized religion where you see nuts like the Pope & the Vatican point to one verse in the Old Testament and proclaim that homosexuality is a sin. To me, religion is all about choice. It's what you believe, not what some old rich guy rambling in latin has to say about it.
But unfortunately, lots of people listen to the old rich guy and then you end up with intolerance and hatred toward different religions and cultures.

I can think of where some people are fighting on behalf of their idea of Idlam (though they do not represent Islam). That's about it. Why don't you give us some examples that are happening right now?

ok well the Jews want god to return and bring the "Apocalypces" and they want to destroy a acient islam structrue in jerualium and this could start another war in the "hloy lands" or how the eroupean christian and musliums are sending threats to each other about what should be the religion in europe.

The first is a war over national territory and to a lesser extent culture. Though you always have a few cranks, by and large the Muslims don't want to exterminate the Jews to appease God and vice versa.
Obviously there is no war going on in Europe so you are wrong. What is actually happening is that the Muslims want Islam to be afforded greater recognition as a religion in Europe, and the Christians oppose that. Not exactly a war, even by the most sensitive standards.

true comrade true but I know the musliums dont want to destroy the jews I just feel that destroying that acient bulding, forgot its name, is not right and the purpose to bring the apocoplyes is also a bit off to me.

Religion is but a tool to create culture, without it man would be in a world of madness, more so than the world we have now. Religion is but the thing humanity together, I know this sounds silly but this is the fact of religions use on society.

That's because it is silly, morality definitely does not come from religion, it comes from biology.

What are you saying? It's hard to understand what you are trying to say. How can something so divisive bring "humanity together". Last time i checked it was making humanity blow he each up.

This isn't entirely coherent.
For your understanding of Jesus is based entirely off of the Bible (for there is no other record of his ideas, etc...). The Bible was written by individuals (over a hundred) and has been translated hundreds of times.
Hence by interpreting the Bible you are already engaged in organized religion - namely, the organization, synthesis, and interpretation of an individuals words which may or may not be represented historically.
It's not "all about choice." Religion denies choice by positing an 'ultimate judgment' of one form or another.
Religion is but a tool to create culture, without it man would be in a world of madness, more so than the world we have now. Religion is but the thing humanity together, I know this sounds silly but this is the fact of religions use on society.
The only madness is religion itself.

This doesn't make any sense - care to expand?

I was talking about altruism specifically, "morality" isn't specific enough. The word "morality" becomes confusing because religion has taken the word as its own, and theists like to say to us atheists "Where do you get your morality from?", so I used the word morality here.

Very well, but perhaps you require some clarification as to the terms you are using.
Altruism simply means "Regard for others, both natural and moral; devotion to the interests of others; brotherly kindness; -- opposed to egoism or selfishness." It has nothing to do with religion what-so-ever; nor does it have anything to do with biology which is (generally speaking) the science of living things.

I watched the video, though I have several issues.
The first issue is in regards to the claim towards "human nature" within the first 30 seconds. Human nature cannot be defined with certainly, it is pure speculation and hence not an argument.
My second issue is with the vast confusion between morality and behavior. For example, the chimps certainly do live in families, and cooperate - but this says nothing about morality. The animals display fine natural altruism, but this says nothing of moral altruism.
Do you see what I mean?
