Have many people come across misogyny in their times?
I have usually found that if it does exist, it is usually indirect as opposed to open hatred of women. I knew a guy once, who had this friend who was quite bitter about women and 'how they love assholes', and would make other derogatory comments, whilst being frustrated by his lack of success with dating.
What do people see as being the contributors to this hatred of women? I can think of a couple of things, which I will post later.

I think that misogyny is often mistaken for sexism. It isn't that certain men hate women, but rather they harbor feelings of superiroity. Men often get frustrated when rejected by females because they feel that they are superior, therefore a female has no place rejecting them.

So, care to explain why you hate women?I'm pretty sure it was just for the title ... or at least I hope it was :D
But yeah, sorry progressive lefty but I feel like I should change it heh
As for have I come across misogyny, yes I have.
Some pretentious emo fuckwit who used to go to my school said on Facebook (not to me) a while ago that it was 'teenage girls' who were responsible for shallow culture, or something alone those lines. Most of the 'misogyny' I have come across has been pretty much around the form you mentioned, though. Girls don't like 'nice guys', or even girls are so stupid that you only have to be a little nice to them and they'll fancy you (in fact that was said a couple of years ago by the same guy I first mentioned - he is a piece of shit) or girls deserved to be abused in relationships because they act like they want it, or they don't stand up for themselves.
There has also been the more subtle misogyny, like girls are more emotional than logical, etc. but besides the 'relationship' focused stuff like what I said above it tends to be pretty rarely 'spoken'.
The only time it becomes a bitter 'hatred' that men feel the need to actually express is when it comes to relationships. There is the attitude that women should be attracted to men, and if they reject a man then the man has had an injustice inflicted upon him and it is the fault of the woman herself.
There is still the cultural attitude that women are sexual/domestic objects whose function is to make men's life better, like portable fridges and the like. When they refuse to do that then they're not doing their job properly. That's what I think causes the misogyny when it comes to relationships.
(Actually, I don't mean to sound like I'm attacking you, progressive lefty, but maybe that has something to do with the fact you're apparently 'not okay' with gay women? ;) )

So...what conclusion would you draw from a thread on racial discrimination which was titled 'I hate blacks.'

In my school I once overheard, two socially inept dorks that had resently found friendship with each other, say one of the most misogystic thing. They where both male and one said something along the line of. 'Aw yeah, girls, you know; they are a totally deceitful race'. Afterwards they both nodded their head, as if having heard some profound wisdom. This was of course so painfully tacky that I couldn't leave it alone to confront them. I suspected simply that they haven't been around girls all that much. Maybe because of them being not perticularly approachable persons themselves; looks- and mannerwise.

This thread reminds me of something a former roommate once said... "I'm the most anti-sexist male in Milwaukee, why don't any girls want to ride my dick?!"

Its title is "misogyny" not "I am misogynist" or "I hate women".
I've encountered similar sentiment to those already mentioned, probably because I used to hang around with predominantly male social inepts (it was only natural, as a social inept myself) who talked about how it's unfair that they're so "nice" and "women only like fuckwits". The other one I encounter a lot is "It's impossible for women to have straight or bi male friends that don't want to fuck them", although straight/bi women - being the pure and innocent non-sexual creatures they (apparently) are - do not similarly wish to fuck all men, apparently. And of course I hear a lot about "turning" lesbians, which makes me want to scream at people.
These attitudes are shockingly prevelant throughout all males, regardless of age group (well, maybe the under 10s are less prone). It's actually considerably worrying.

Protip: read the thread. The title was changed. It used to be "I hate women."
Ah my mistake.
@Junius: Obviously, feel free to ignore the comment. (No point in editing it out, given bcbm quoting it)

Sorry for being offtopic, but I'd like to point out that it wasn't my intention to be snarky, it was pretty much a justification for being too damn lazy to go back and edit.

No I meant my response was snarky and that was not necessary.

It's almost uncomfortably sweet what this thread has turned into.
