Can capitalism function without the financial sector? In such a society what happens to the value of money? Is such a society the kind Ron Paul would support or doesn't he see a problem with a financial sector? I see politicians keen to blame the financial sector for the crisis yet they still support capitalism.

I can see it happening, but I don't think it would work very well.

Politicians are blaming the lack of regulation in the financial sector as opposed to the existence of the financial sector itself. The alternative to an unregulated financial sector is a regulated financial sector.

Is there a (anarcho?) capitalist alternative to capitalism with a financial sector?

Who cares? There is an obsession on this board with attacking anarcho-capitalist ideals and then proclaiming victory for communism. But anarcho-capitalism is not the prevailing system, and it is not popular nor even taken seriously anywhere that I know of. Leftists' refusal to let the issue just goes to show how out of touch they are with reality.
