Fuck that reporter. "Taking a stand against racism is a risk-free endeavor." "They're made up of a bunch of college kids who dig hardcore music and the menacing skinhead style, but don't want to offend anyone by embracing it. So they thought up SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) and ARA (Anti-Racist Action), where they could have their cake and eat it." It's not a fucking risk-free endeavor when you live in Moscow. And SHARP was not formed so as to not offend people, it was to separate true skinheads from those Nazi fucks. Skinhead are no angels, and have never tried to be to anyone. And he referred to the boneheads in Moscow as the "real skins", I want to kick that guy in the fucking face.

i think the rise of russian fascism is a reaction to stalinism and the continued social stagnation under Putinism. After the state of the country during the Gorbachev days it's not surprising that Russians are hesitant about trusting the communist party again.
I think the solution is for the Russian left to answer the problems created by capitalism from the internationalist perspective rather than all the ''mother russia'' bullshit. I've never been to Russia though, so I'm not sure how easy that would be.

Or they could stop being Marx-Leninist because people don't trust all powerful states and elite groups.

Yeah, people are becoming fascists because they distrust the totalitarianism of Marxist Leninism...
Think about what you're saying before you say it, jesus.

Or you could try reading what people say for once before making some sharp and witty yet cleverly insulting response which serves only to prove what a **** you are.

Fuck that article, it's not easy being anti-racist, much less active in Russia. As the article said, that's enough to get you killed, it's no wonder Antifa there is so secretive. The author sounds like one of those people who just likes to shit on everyone else's efforts.

None of that. If you want to discuss a point, do so. But save the personal attacks.

if you mean in the way the left are under such attacks and the state seens to allow it to occur, or at least to a degree, then i completely agree with that
we should raise an international brigade or something (a fantasy at best, but plausable) it would never happen, Russia isnt in the midst of a civil war and you would be arrested at the airport,

I don't like the reporter, he makes assumptions and is too critical of Antifa.
After all, he is friends with Eduard Limonov, whom he even consulted for his opinion on the Antifa for this article. Limonov is a Russian ex-punk, notorious attention whore, talentless part-time artist, and full-time asshole who leads the neo-fascist National Bolshevik Party.
Limonov also volunteered to fight for the Milosevic side in the Balkan conflict. To increase his personal notoriety, he had someone film him firing gunshots at fleeing Bosnian civilians when Sarajevo was under siege.
The publication in which the article appeared -Exile, a mag for English-speaking expatriates in Moscow- grants Limonov a monthly column because they find him really hip, trendy and 'controversial'.
What can you expect from a rag like that?

The eXile is damn funny, but obviously shouldn't be taken seriously politically.
