Here is a short description of what they are doing: "Take Back the Land. Liberty City residents and supporters, led by the Center for Pan-African Development, squat on public land, to build housing for our own community. No government permission or money. We are liberating the land for our people."
Take Back the Land's founder, Max Rameau, on Fox News. The bloated saps from Fox seem dumbfounded by radically commonsense reasoning Rameau uses.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (www.PSLWeb.org (http://www.PSLWeb.org)) covered this story. Truly inspirational.

Yeah, as common sense as it is (peopleless homes for homeless people), Take Back the Land does convey a truly radical message- that all people's should have their needs filled and that people can collective organize to fulfill these needs. This expression can be transformed into take back the food, take back our time, etc. These are things that we can create and that we need.

yes, i hate the media sometimes. like today, i was watching cops, a guy got pulled over and put to gun point, because he had a sidearm and walked in to a gas station with it in his holster, he was in accordance with gun laws and didn't do anything illegal, precautions are understandable, but when the guy showed that he knew his rights(apparently better then the cops did in the domain of gun regulations), the announcer guy criticized him for his "large mouth"...among other things. i hate the media sometimes. it would be nice if they weren't so clearly biased sometimes on some of their stories,(well they often claim to bring something like the "unbiased truth") but i guess thats to much to ask.

Very inspiring stuff here. I'm surprised Mr. Rameau was able to keep his composure, they really pissed me off with their smug, bourgeois attitude, these "law and order" types. *sigh*

Pretty nice indeed, this crisis is a good way to build up a decent, militant squatters movement.
