How do you get your Left/Radical/ Communist/Anarchist information into your head?
Do you read in your spare time?
Do you listen to audio books?
Do you watch 'Left' films?
I am curious about this, because my job doesn't allow me much spare time to sit and read, but I am allowed to listen to my mp3 player at work.
It just happens to be my best secret weapon, that is loaded with Audio books/Essays/Discussions on Anarchism/Anarchist-Communism etc.
I find listening to the text allows for faster reading (when I get around to it!)

While I haven't tried audiobooks myself, I guess they're a good way to learn.
I also use an rss reader with a bunch of feeds on it to leftist sites to get my daily portion of news, saves me the time of clicking and loading websites when it is not needed.

A great idea!I don't see how you will concentrate at your work though :D
I read books, watch some documentaries (mostly for historical events and such), browse revleft, and most importantly, discuss with people of various leftist political views (face 2 face).

Read, argue, then RevLeft when I have a query. I speak to a lot of people about their situations face to face and ask them how they think it could be changed.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the face to face part being one of the most important parts of my learning/information so far also... when I'm not listening to my mp3 at work I am politely arguing with my co-workers about what should happen, why things are the way they are now, what would be the best way forward etc
And since I have joined Revleft however my knowledge has skyrocketed!!:D
In the process of printing texts/pamphlets from www.zabalaza.net for myself and workmates.:tt2:

Though I'm a student, I don't have a lot of time to read. I'll probably have more time when I start working...

I listen to lectures on topics that interest me, like economics, philosophy of science, history, mathematics, physics, English and so forth. They are available free from Itunes or free from torrents. I read on the train or when I'm catching a bus, which easily involves an hour and a half a day.

Don't forget to keep pen and paper handy -- AT ALL TIMES -- so that you can jot things down immediately, as they occur to you. Think of it as time-shifting your present state of consciousness...!

The easy way, audio recordings under my pillow playing in my sleep.

I read vast amounts. Both books and online, I read a lot online because the clearer text suits my eyes more and also it is easier to find what I am looking for. But I read no shortage of books either.

I don't get it in my head. We are not being brainwashed. We make this stuff up ourselves. We come to rational conclusions when we look at this fucked up world.

Hey, I never said being brainwashed was the way to go.
It defeats the purpose of being an Anarchist if you can't be free to choose what you listen to etc.
I choose to listen to an mp3 player full of solid Anarchist material, and I choose to listen to stuff that will benefit me and others, instead of music that just fills up my head with the junky, ineffective, personal clichéd opinions/takes on ones life.
Anarchist thought doesn't have to be 'sold' to me, for me to see it's vision, it's scope and it's ability to change everyones life for the better.

All,
Please take a look at this 1-page diagram, at the following link.
Ideologies & Operations
http://tinyurl.com/yqotq9
It not only serves as an accurate, materialist political spectrum, but also note that the history of historical development can be traced from right to left on it -- roughly fascism (or monarchy) would approximate a tribal-type existence, progressing leftward from there.
While we have far surpassed the point of monotheism being a progressive force, at one point it was, ushering in an era of cosmopolitanism. Imperialism, too, initially could be called somewhat progressive in the sense that it constructed a single, unified state infrastructure in common over many disparate lands. More importantly than that it brought conglomerations of workers together who had previously been scattered and powerless on various farms as serfs.
That leads us to nationalism which, at one point, standardized administration and services for a large area. Left of nationalism is liberalism, with its egalitarian spirit, at times translating into tangible social services provided for by the state.
Left-liberalism could be thought of as the empowerment of limited, militant workers struggles, much like we're currently seeing in Greece.
Full revolutionary, anti-capitalist struggle is the *most progressive* political force, with its potential to overthrow the commonplace stealing of labor value by private property, once and for all.
I'm open to feedback on this -- thanks, hope it helps as a cognitive aid!
