Hey Comrades,
I'm new here, obviously. I guess a little background about what lead me to being an International Socialist.

To begin, by International Socialist I mean the Unorthodox Trotskyist of the Tony Cliff variety.

I started getting into radical leftitst politics in the seventh grade (I'm in college now) by reading the Communist Manifesto. I was an Orthodox Marxist for a while there before I began to read and expand. I went from Orthodox Marxist, to Council Communist, to Anarcho-Syndicalist, to Orthodox Trotskyist and finally to International Socialist.

Thats all you really need to know, everything else about me will be uncovered in future posts.

See you Comrades.

Yeah, I had issues settling until recently. As a member of Socialist Alternative it looks to me that you are an Orthdox Trotskyist. It thats the case I have a question. In your opinion, why do Trotskyists put so much emphasis on the State Capitalist vs Dengenerated Workers State vs Buracratic Collectivism debate?

Just to put it short, look at Englands SWP, their analysis is that the soviet union was state capitalist, so rather than seeing that the fall of the soviet union was a huge set-back to the workers movement especially ideologically, for them it wasn't a defeat, it was just a side step.

They failed to recognize the world situation, and the ideological setback for socialism due to their incorrect "state-capitalism" analysis.

Welcome. :) A former Trot? I seem to be leaning that way, but i'm still quite undecided.

Welcome. :) A former Trot? I seem to be leaning that way, but i'm still quite undecided.

I think the term "former trot" is the most correct, seeing how the SWP and their international counterparts have degenerated over the years.

Anyway, hi there couch13 :)

Greetings comrade, good to see you apparently are well aware of your positions!

Don't mind the trip you've been through: the furniture you buy for your first flat you often don't like anymore when you're in your fourties...
