Telstra workers promise more strike
Telstra workers are threatening more disruptions this week following their ban on overtime over the weekend. The Communications Electrical Plumbing Union (CEPU) said that from Tuesday there would be rolling four-hour, 24-hour and 48-hour stoppages by its members in support of their call for a collective agreement.
CEPU telecommunications Victorian secretary Len Cooper said the wild weather that had swept through the state meant that there would be plenty of jobs to be done when workers returned to normal hours from midnight on Sunday.
"There has been quite a number of transmission failures, but we'll need to make an assessment tomorrow to see the full impact," Mr Cooper told AAP.
"The network is in such a state that they're keeping it together with plastic tape and whatever else they can get their hands on, so the rain will have a big impact."
The industrial action came after a secret ballot of nearly 4,400 Telstra employees last week voted for industrial action against Telstra because of the telco's refusal to negotiate a collective agreement.
Also, unofficial but going aroung telecom workers forums
It's all happening in Tassie this week. Check this out below, email I got from the union today!
