Ministers to clear way for Royal Mail part-privatisation (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/8306e77e-cb1a-11dd-87d7-000077b07658.html)

As Dennis Skinner (MP/'Old' Labour) rightly said it is madness to talk about privatisations when we are seeing the condition and actions of privatised sectors now more than ever, energy companies ripping off the companies, banks being bailed out at the cost of the tax payer, woes in the NHS and blood service.

As my Dad (CWU member) said, it is the same thing all the governments have done, they run a working service into the ground themselves and then complain that it isn't working and sell it off to make a profit for them.

Strikes were already planned for other reasons, i wonder what will occur now with this news. This is New Labour at its Thatcherite worst, its a fucking discrace, and i fine indicator of the so called 'Labour' party these days

Then have the public buy them back years later at a far far higher price.

probably, somebody in the house said they welcomed New Labour to the Thatcherite wing of the conservative party, no wonder people vote BNP if they see New Labour or the Tories as the alternative,

my Dad could lose his job:(
Mandelson should be hung along with Maggie

Yep this is a very sad sign of the times. Its funny how when someone touts the word 'privatisation' at something, it is considered without doubt that thousands of jobs will be lost. The thing that pisses me of is how it seems that the government have been (for a long time)desperate to privatise it. People should not stand for this as they should learn to accept communal services as their own. Funnily enough, my honest opinion is that the best way to fix the problem with our public services is to employ more people within them and try and filter out buerocracy (hard task but they should at least try).
If a private service is shit, nothing is said and the first thing that is considered is that to simply sell the contract off to another private company. If a public service is considered to be failing or not performing at 100%, people talk about scapping it in favour of privatising it almost immedietly without even thinking about the consequences. The UK sucks right now!! (Sorry about spelling:under the influence)
