I'm new to the font of communism. I got into it because it is important to my significant other and I decided this would make them happy if I learned more about it. I'm not exactly sure if I'm right wing, but I agree with communism, so I'm not sure. I've never been on the democrat side in Republican V democrat (I know they're not to only parties, of course). But, I agree strongly with the ideologies of communism such as people being equal and working together. So I decided to figure out more about it, since I was never taught about it, and not many places here teach about it. I also can't research well, I need actual conversations to learn about things like this without becoming bored.
So, I hope to be able to learn more about this ideology (even though the box on the accepting terms of service thing nearly scared me away) and do what I can to make my brethren proud. Nice to meet you all, I hope to be a valuable member of this forum society.

Welcome. I'm relatively new to communism; my political opinions have evolved over the past eight years in this fashion: neoconservative(yes, I said it, but in my defense i was 12 at the time)-moderate conservative-centrist-liberal and now communist. The class divide in capitalist society and total lack of economic justice, in addition to being woken up by the Bush years, have lead me to loathe a system that supports a small caste of wealthy elites over the rest of us. An anarchist friend of mine recommended the forum, and I have found it to be an interesting place to talk about the finer points of revolutionary left politics. Things may seem confusing at first, lots of nuance and different opinions to this thing called "communism", but keep an open mind and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. ;)

Thanks :D
I'm kind of intimidated by all the terms I don't know. I think wiki is going to be my best friend for awhile!
As for Bush, though, I think he did an okay job. People just hating too much. People need somethign to blame, a scape goat. And the news, run by democrats, points to Bush. A perfect scapegoat! Though, I do agree that something has to be changed, especially the way things are going in the so called land of opportunity, wouldn't you say?

Well, I'm not going to say he did OK, but I will say that passed presidents have been just as bad for social justice and workers rights. The Democrat/Republican lens is a useless lens to look at these things though. They're basically two factions of the same party. For reference, read The Democrats: A Critical History by Lance Selfa. Both parties are controlled by corporate interest, and the mainstream media is controlled by a small number of corporate entities whose sole purpose is money, and determine what "news" is palatable by the consumers. Anyhow, you are right that change is needed, and the rev-left community is all about progressive change (when they're not arguing over petty differences, that is).

...are you sure you know what communism is?
I think you should read the manifesto, it can be found here: http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/index.htm
I think you might be quite surprised by what exactly our belifs are, having read a couple of your previous posts. Nonetheless, I hope you stick around to learn what we're all about. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

I know a fair bit. But yeah, this is all new to me, so I'm sorry if I seem unsure of things at times. Thanks, I know I'm not the best at this, but I do believe in many points that communism leads to (as I've learned from my boyfriend, and he's all over communism) and decided it agrees with my opinions. So I want to learn as much as I can (because just reading bores me, I need conversation). thanks in advance for dealing with me, I'll do my best :)
