Recovery: Blindness and Punishment

Felix Gorelik
The counterrevolutionary event in 1991 was prepared ideologically for many years before, during "glasnost", when they started the devastation by calling it "Stalinism", from all organs of the mass media in the country there flowed rivers of honey, promises and "liberalization" ideas. There was glorification of private ownership, private initiative, "market economy" as it is in the West. Amongst the many authors of these articles and lectures, praising Gorbachev's "new thinking", was also a philosopher A. Tsinko, economist N. Shmelev, and many others. Well, these liberal ideals were made into reality. A large majority of these ideologues, people like G. Popova, thought up the anti-socialism false phrase, named the "Administrative-command system, which derided Socialism, and this was thrown in with great fanfare and publicized by all the media, in order to discredit everything that the USSR and socialism gave to the people, they were well paid and given presents, but now they are quiet. But not all of them are keeping quiet, those who still have some conscience in them, saw what their promoted "ideals" produced, only chaos and misery… they woke up.

Former Soviet dissidents or the promoters of "new thinking" by calling these Yeltsin-Putin reforms as "reforms of death"! Among these people who saw their mistake is A. Zinoviev, openly stating, that the Soviet period was the highest point of development of Russia in all of its history. He called Gorbachev’s "perestroika" "Katastoika" and bound to crash. Another former dissident A. Tsinko, who during the reign of Gorbachev wrote about the "new steps" for explaining the past Soviet history. He looks at the present situation in Russia with dismay and despair, after being one who praised these "reforms." With the coming of a new editor to the popular and influential "Literaturnaya Gazeta", Y. Poliakov, there started to be published articles, which told its readers about the bitter truth of all these reforms and the dismantling of the Soviet Union and socialism. Among these articles is the truthful voice of A. Tsipko.

"Blindness is much worse than robbery" – say this former anti-Communist. We were not defeated by anyone, we have done this to ourselves. We allowed Communism to be dismantled and also our own state. Why was it not obvious, that taking away what belonged to all of us, that was accumulated by the Soviet generations, is now given to a few individuals. Communist ideology helped equality to be built in the nation. These present reforms do exactly the opposite. At that time, no one talked that with freedom of speech, the people must also have other things in life: right to live, have children, education of children, bringing up children, speak in many languages.

The present reforms are building up inequality between the majority of people and the newly rich. A. Tsipko again and again in his article writes that "privatization" was "nothing but sheer robbery, bought for practically nothing, but more often than not, they just took the public property without any payment. We have no freedom – the main necessity to raise our children, have job security, enough to eat and a place to live. Two thirds of the population lives in dire need of the necessities of life. Add to this to our latest intelligencia revolution, we can add 2,000,000 unborn children whose parents would not be able to bring them up and thus, the birth rate has fallen dramatically. The social degradation of the villages and towns cannot be solved now. By all of us allowing privatization and reforms, this brought on the growth of crime, robbery and murders, with freedom also to kill and to suicide. Our anti-Communist revolution has taken from the people the real values much more than it gave them any semblance of a future. This new revolution has taken away free education, free medical care and has put million of children into the arms of poverty and loss of perspective for the future, plus, it has marginalized the people into problems that cannot be solved now …"

A. Tsinko mentions also the known economist "capitalist market economy" exponent N. Shmelev, who wrote… "Russian capitalism is bandit capitalism. Without any feeling for the people or for the care that socialism gave to the people. They rob the people…such is the face of our market economy."

Making fun of and also deriding the present liberal politicians – those that defend Putin, who call upon the people for "cooperation" with the present regime, A. Zinoviev said: "Let these representatives of the bourgeois regime, representing the political elite, throwing to the Russian people "straws", called "cooperation", "law and order", "truthfulness" etc. let them answer these questions: can there be any agreement and understanding between the robbers and those that are robbed or not; can there be understanding about the laws that allowed the few to rob the riches and the economic potential of Russia; is it right and legal that the very few are rich while the absolute majority are poor etc.?"

The beast of prey, took over the state and the economy due to the counterrevolution, not as a "revolution" as these "elite" elements proclaim. What does this "elite" section represent, are they fit to be heading the nation? To this question, A. Tsipko gives this answer: "Such a stupid national elite, as we have here, there is none such in any other country. Others defend their countries, Our elite despises their own people, their own country. Our elite despises their country, their people and they are willing to sell everything to the highest bidder. The reforms that are due to "perestroika, could only be accomplished by people who absolutely despise their own people and their country. Did these robbers, this elite, didn’t they know that there will be millions without work, growth of prostitution and narcotics?"

This description is added to by A. Silin: " We have the most banal leaders, which means, the most unqualified, first class boors. Industry is ruins and in disrepair, civil servants are mushrooming like locusts, and tens of millions of dollars that they say are not available, are being siphoned off and banked in offshore banks and in numbered accounts in Swiss Banks."

Why was this possible, the moral and economic degradation of one of the mightiest countries in the world , the USSR? There took place a change in generations. Taking over from the heroic Soviet people, who knew capitalism and also socialism, the people who accomplished the Great October Revolution, laid the foundations of socialism, were victorious over Fascism, there came a generation of "children" who had all the benefits of socialism, but who did not appreciate this. This generation was sick with individualism and jealousy: "Why are we not living like they live in the West?' – were the questions being asked during the Brezhnev era. Egoism, pining for only individual gain, because the demoralizing fact and the rebirth of thinking amongst the masses. A. Silin called this phenomenon "Social Aids", making the people susceptible to Western propaganda and internal traitorous elements. He also called this phenomena as the "Social Cancer": "This rebirth carried with it hate characteristics, starting from very small – losing the moral attitude of responsibility, falling off of worker discipline, coming about of an atmosphere of cynicism, robbery and other ills of not believing in anything."

This social cancer affected the people – from the top to the bottom. "the main current and influence was the complete fooling of the citizens by psychological aids, daily being promoted by the mass media, who were bought over to promote this onward rush to market economy by the new oligarchs. A. Silin very vividly describes the whole governing apparatus as becoming infected with this social cancer: "The militia in fact became the arms of these robber elements, guarding their every robbery and they were paid handsomely for their protection. The elite got richer, bolder and more depraved and mired in muck. It became normal for these oligarchs to write off their ill-gotten gains to the wife or the sons, by making them responsible for their business interests. All this was being accomplished under the mask, promoted by the media, that this is in the name of democracy."

In order to save this dictatorship of capital, you have to keep the people in the dark. Therefore religion was given the green light, a boost in finances and property plus their own mass media to do their bidding. A. Zinoviev reported: "With the highest concentration of mass propaganda, even though Russia was the most literate society in the world, Russia in a very short time became a country of religious duped people, even compared to some of the Islamic world fanaticism. This is one of the causes of this social cancer that is being hammered into the minds of the Russian people, well planned and very well executed during the Cold War years."

There is now an awakening even about the victorious "democracy." A. Tsipko quotes from a politician, a former communist who said, after the defeat of the move to impeach Boris Yeltsin: "You Communists are lucky that Yeltsin was not impeached, because the move did not get enough votes in the Duma. If you had succeeded to impeach Yeltsin, he would not have resigned at all, but you Communists would all have been arrested and jailed with all of your friends who think of gaining a majority in the Russian Duma!" As if to support his article in the "Literaturnaya Gazeta", one pensioner wrote: " In order for people to live under such conditions, there must be a dictatorship. And now in Russia, just such a dictatorship is functioning, the dictatorship of the money bags!"

(It would be very interesting to find out as how the CPRF members of the Russian Duma voted on the impeachment of Yeltsin…after all, they had the most members of the Duma as Communists? – Editor)

To add to these facts, I quote some sentences from a vicious anti-Communist. "Only 4.3% of the entire Russian people support the market reforms," according to Tsipko, basing himself on published public opinion polls. "Only 4% of the population supports the right-wing coalition that supports Putin. The world "liberalism" is getting more and more to be understood by the people as to what it really means."

You must know that it is not easy for anyone to admit that they were so terribly wrong, so stupid and so brainwashed, said A. Tsipko, "that your thoughts were bought at the expense and tragedy of all your fellow countrymen." Some of these anti-Communists are forced now to admit, "that the existence of the USSR and of Socialism with whom they fought bitterly, was humane, not as the present market economy is, and this truth finally had dawned on me."

" It is necessary to admit that the hate we had for Communism and its regime, was more humane system, that this one which we ourselves have helped to put upon the people. Our democratic revolution did not help the Soviet people. We, as anti-Communists, we not only smashed the dictatorship of censorship, but the moral attitude of the nation, one of the most developed cultures the world has ever seen."

He admits that it would have been the victory of the attempted putsch by members of the CPSU at that time, and not the victory of Boris Yeltsin." I hoped that that damned Soviet dictatorial regime would die and disappear. If I only knew as to what would happen as it did now! I am very sincerely saying this: this regime now cannot under no circumstances be compared to what we had under Socialism and the Soviet Union!"

I’m adding their very terrible forewarning:

"The present elite, standing with their backs to the people, in the end will be overturned!"

"Democrats," wanting "reforms", liked to quote a paragraph from Dostoevsky about the "tear of a small child", which means more than anything else. But in truth the idea of these market economy lovers was much different. As is being told by one of the businessmen- a cooperator, and after the owner of a private industry Y. Golovin, who admitted: "We spit on all of our sprouted intelligent sobs of the lot Russia, of lost republics, of homeless children. Our task is to take over ownership. And we shall accomplish this, even if 50% of the population is homeless or dies or gets killed, but the other 50% will thank us." This predator lies, only about 10% will say "thanks" to those who robbed the country.

It is exactly because of this that these elements and traitors have sold off and robbed the riches of the USSR and Socialism and formed a barrier against the wrath of their robbed people.

Together with A. Tsipko, another dissident A. Kiva, wrote whole articles, one after another heaped abuse and lies against the Great October Revolution of 1917, the building of socialism. Even he finally opened his eyes wide. Talking over from Yeltsin was Putin, whose ratings are still high, compared to the previous leaders. Nevertheless Putin is continuing on the "reforms of death": Before, wrote A. Kiva, "the whole blame and the rottenness is due to these reforms, which was due to Gaidar and his followers. The Noble Peace Prize, of all things, was given to R. Mandall, an American economist, whose policies were given by the USA and to be followed by Gaidar.

According to General Gurov of the Russian State Militia: "From 40% to 60% of all businesses and industries in Russia, from 50% to 80% of all banks, is under control of the criminal elements. There was never ever before so many professional killings, as there is now. "

The liberals and the market economists lie when they state that it is impossible to stop the yearly outflow of $20-25 billion US dollars outside the country into foreign banks! There was never in the history and not in one other country such outflow of sums of money."

A. Golovin another former dissident, characterizes these new elite, now ruling the country: "These newly rich oligarchs have to be uncompromising, demanding, cynical aggressive and very cruel, know how to kill in cold blood, uncompromising, love money more than anything else in earth. This is the credo of the present oligarchs ruling Russia."
