Some time ago I saw a Dutch documentary film about a Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) leader Nuriye Kesbir, who was arrested by the police in The Netherlands in 2001 and then it was considered whether she should be extradited to Turkey. In the end she got a permit to stay (if I recall right), but she was frustrated not doing anything for her people, so after a while she escaped back to the mountains in Kurdistan to continue the battle.
The doc was pretty good, and I was especially impressed by some her feminist agitation among Kurdish women against buying and selling of women, arranged marriages etc.
What is your opinion on the PKK? What is their support base like, what are their strong and weak points? Any good books or other sources on the topic?
