Can you guys use this thread to collaborate on a list of the best, say, 100-200 songs ever? :) You don't have to rank them, they don't have to be all in one giant post, just add them as you think of them?
And I'm asking this so I can learn about cool music, so I'd rather you don't list stuff like Ramones a-sides; but a Ramones b-side would be obscure enough as far as I'm concerned.
Being available on itunes is a plus too...
Whadya say??

Try getting albums like Nuggets, Rubble, Pebbles and The Best Of Dunwich Records.
Really raw proto-punk garage rock on that.
Velvet Tinmine is another collection album, but with glam rock on it, it's pretty good.
Also try out genres like krautrock (not a fan of the term myself but with lack of a better term...), free jazz, and no wave.
Just look it up on wiki or allmusic for a nice beginners-list of bands/artists.
I'll list some specfic numbers later, but try these bands in the meanwhile:
Os Mutantes
Television Personalities
Newtown Neurotics
Iggy Pop (everything he did solo or not before and including Zombie Birdhouse is a must).
Patrik Fitzgerald
John Cooper Clarke
Try some sites:

Hi Jimmy Jazz
'Good music' is such a subjective term, how can I be sure you'll like the stuff I bring up? In fact, I listen to a lot of different things these days (including disco, classical, and jazz as well as most of the things that Pirate mentioned), but I presume you're asking about the more punk-ish/rock'n'roll-ish stuff, so I'll stick with that. I'll try and log in every now and then and list a few albums that I really like.
Today's tips:
Dwarves: horror stories
GG Allin and the Jabbers: always was, is, and shall be
The Cramps: songs the lord taught us
Heartbreakers: L.A.M.F. (the lost '77 mixes)
Oblivians: popular favourites
I think my favourite music is the grey zone where punk, glam, and garage rock meet. You can find lots of *excellent* stuff on this blog:
http://sonsofthedolls.blogspot.com/
It's a fucking excellent site where I get a lot of obscure singles from these days. The music they upload is perfectly to my taste in 99.9% of cases. Just let the descriptions be your guide.
Hope this helps for now.

Also try using Megadownload.net to search for megaupload or rapidshare files.
For example when searching for Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat search Velvet White.

Nice, thanks guys.
I presume you're asking about the more punk-ish/rock'n'roll-ish stuff, so I'll stick with that.
Yeah, I almost specified "punk and related", but I didn't want to rule out a few genres I've seen you guys talk about like avante jazz and electronic.
What got me started on this was your post about the Punk/New Wave/Glam/etc mix CD you were listening to...I really wanted to know every song that was on that. :p That, and finally looking up what PU's avatar is (James White and the Blacks) and finding it to be awesome.

Velvet Underground's studioalbums apart from Squeeze which doesnt even contain any off the original bandmembers.
Also check out Live At Max's Kansas City and the compilation albums VU and Another View because they have some previously unreleased material by the Velvets.
Can's Tago Mago and Ege Bamyasi.
James White/Chance's Buy and Off White.
The various artists compilation album No New York. A must if you like no wave.

Sweet, thanks guys...
Lick My Decals Off, Baby
I am a big Beefheart fan, but I've never heard this one. :( It's out of print and used copies are $40. My favorite is Safe As Milk though, along with random songs from: The Legendary A&M Sessions, The Mirror Man Sessions and Grow Fins. Before I heard that stuff, Van Morrison and Them was the hardest white boy R&B I'd ever heard.
