Is proddy referring to a protestant a racist term?

Is Protestant a race? I don't think so. So therefore no, it isn't racist.

Is it sectarian though? If you used it as a descriptove, like "Then the catholic said hello to the proddy" or something like that.

It could definately be sectarian, since "Proddy" sounds somewhat dismissive and pejorative.

Would a protestant be anyone who has been baptised? Or do you have to believe the rleigion? How is it defined int erms of sectarian lines?

In a lot of countries such as the UK, many people are baptised, but aren't religious. I'm a baptised Anglican, but I'm not religious. I think what he is asking is are people who are baptised but not religious considered the same as those who are baptised and religious, which I don't think they are.

Yeh, like officially would I be classified as a protestant, seeing as I'm baptised in the C of E but I dont beleive it. Like on sectarian lines would my 'group' (although obviously i dont beleive in suhc divides but from the perspective of someone who does) be 'protestant', because i come from a protestant family and was baptised.

I know ppl who were offended by the word, but then some of my own family who are protestant would also say it.

I think with a phrase like that context is vital.

Who gives a shit.

A lot of Loyalist scum identify with the term but I would never use in that context.

Yes, you are a nominal protestant in that case. People are retarded like that.

i'd be inclined to say no, considering ''proddies'' use the term to refer to themselves often very casually.
