I was thinking, (something I rarly do, just look at my posts), and I came to a weird conclusion, there are similarities between the Bible and Marxism! As a devot athesist I reeled in shock, but here is what I fond:
Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden: They had prefect lives in the garden, living in harmony, like pre-history humans living in communist style tribes.
Jesus Christ: This is a problem I have with some Marxist, they "worship" Marx and what he said, like Jesus. Engals could be one of the aposlules, or his brother James.
The End of the World: Christians believe the world will end, and usher in a period of peace and whatnot, like communsit and the worldwide revolution. People discuss both, and every once in awhile we think it might happen soon, but never does.
Yes, I know this stupid, but I thought it was intersting in a odd sort of way. If you can add any feel free, I'd like to see if anyone has any of their own.

There is much content in the Bible (and other spiritual texts) with supprising parallels. Many people omit that which does not fit their desired believes, somewhat like connect the dots in religion. Many people refuse to admit to many things writen in the Bible, for example, Jesus is obviously not a miltaristic fascist but is instead a pacifist that is communistic in nature. Jesus rejected monetary merit, thereby rejecting the very structure of capitalism. I could go on and on.

Jesus trashed a marketplace at the temple. Crushing capitalism?

Are you forgeting that camel through the needle analogy? Or that Jesus told his followers to give all of their wealth to the poor?

I think the bible is one big storybook... Nothing else..
Maybe, the original bible author meant for it to be accepted as Marx meant for Communism to be accepted? Well, he failed, I'll say that.

Could be, although this storybook has referanced to many places and events throughout history. Mostly, I don't think the stories are what is important but the meaning or reasoning behind them, just as Jesus told parables. You forget that many people do draw inspiration and strength from the Bible. Still there are obviously those people that would misinterpret the Bible and ues it as a tool for their own ambitions and twisted ideas of life.

I'm an atheist, but I can see the similarites. Unfortunately, Tolstoy's Anarchism (the closest to communism) is utopian. They aren't for doing, they are for waiting for someone to save them. Communism has always put YOU in charge, not a GOD who will never come.

Religion is oppression. That utopian bullshit is one of the reasons the ruling class stays in power.

True, people seem to see post revolutionary activities as that of a perfect society but we would be building starting with used capitalist matierials so it would take some time. To make a community out of a capitalist shithole. I think any religion worth anything, tells followers to go make a difference. Christianity, Judism and Islam do that, yet people want to distort the original ideas. Many reasons to revolt could be found in any of the texts.

its "world peace" with the dominion of christ and after all the "unbelievers" are banished to "hell".
There are plenty of threads on this subject please read them in theory.

You can use the bible to argue just about any political viewpoint, in reality the whole thing is politically neutral it's only people who have interpreted it in different ways.

I am aware that you can "use" the bible to argue just about anything, for example, the Devil used the Bible to argue, in the Bible. I still see many clear pionts in the Bible, at least in the new testiment, like I have refered to earlier in this thread.
