International forum of Communist and Workers' Parties invites PFLP to full membership, salutes Palestinian people

The 10th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, which took place from November 21-23, 2008 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, issued a unanimous invitation for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine to join the next meeting as a full member and participant in the forum.

Sixty-five parties from fifty-five countries attended the forum, which provided the framework for interchange of ideas between parties. Issues of particular relevance in the forum were new international phenomena, including the capitalist economic crisis, the new rise of socialist and popular movements in Latin America, and new coalitions of developing countries.

The annual meeting took place in Latin America for the first time, hosted by the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB). Among the resolutions adopted by the conference were a declaration of solidarity with the people of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as expressing solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people, particularly calling for an end to the siege of Gaza, the racist annexation wall, and the colonial settlements.

The parties also pledged to coordinate work in the coming year, including delegations to Gaza in support of breaking the siege. The PFLP expresses its appreciation and solidarity with the International Meeting and looks forward to strengthening its ties with revolutionary and progressive forces around the world to build international solidarity against imperialism, occupation and aggression and for liberation, justice, freedom and peace.
