Not disenchanted.
Not defeated.
Not a slave.
Never a master.
Yes to joy, to "my" children, to the beautiful woman who refuses to recognize what a degenerate boor am I, to friendship and loyalty.
To justice, however temporary. To honest community, however often under attack; to the open hand in the face of the closed fist, to intelligence and patience in opposition to power and greed.
To the red and the black.
