Unfortunately, I think the perceived attitude comes from frustration. I think we all feel it from time to time.

We all know the saying "actions speak louder than words" and lets face it, some people are more driven by that than others.

Sometimes I get depressed thinking that all this is just one big circle jerk, and we'll never make it happen or actually start it. I'm sure everyone here (on our side anyway) probably feels the same way.

Those of us that are a little older, and I'm sure that Redstar would concur, have watched this system for some time and it's getting monotonous. Maybe, because of our ages, we feel a bit more urgency. I certainly do. I can't speak for others however.

I don't know if Comrade RAF is a perceived threat to some here because of his actions and affiliations, or because some people may be jealous or envious. All I know is that for some reason, whenever RAF makes a statement or an opinion, there is a general line up of people bickering with him about his experiences, opinions, and hopes and dreams for a future/new communism.

A quick look at this thread is actually pretty revealing. This is in the OI forum and there is an on going battle between people that are supposed to be of the same general ideologies. This is the aspect I find most distressing. It makes me feel like nothing will ever come to fruition because there is so much pointless bickering amongst ourselves.

We all need to concentrate on the big picture I think.
I'm not taking any sides on this one, it's just some of my observances over the last couple of weeks. Believe me, I value your opinion SenoraChe, Zombie and RAF.

We should all try to make a conscious effort to learn and grow from each persons convictions, actions and ideologies. There are experiences on this board that you can't find anywhere else and we should value them all.

Where does the tennents of the RAF say anywhere that it was all about a vanguard? From what I can gather, it was most certainly about revolution. I only see a group that was trying to impact old nazi politicians, imperialists, and capitalists. I'm sorry that I may be in the minority that think it's quite possible that no change will come without armed struggle. For heavens sake, we all became interested in Che because of his belief in that principle or certainly the admiration for someone so committed to his beliefs. I see the RAF as no more than a modern extension of those goals and beliefs. I'm not clear as to why you think they are not about government for the people.

This whole argument would be better suited in either politics or theory or maybe even practice.

I have read about Lenin and Leninism. I don't want to get into a ideological debate over that here. However, as a communist, we should have been encouraged by actions like that of the RAF. They clearly targeted the enemy of Communism, which is capitalism and imperialism.

I don't think that the RAF was interested in taking over the world and being the vanguard of it, I think they were merely trying to make a difference in their own way.

I think condemning them because their ideals as Leninist or Marxist is jumping the gun a bit.

RAF, if you want to start a thread in Theory about how one or another variant of Leninism is "superior" to libertarian Marxism or anarchism, I encourage you to do so. We can argue these matters on their political merits (or lack of same).

But this? I can't figure out if you just resent the young for the "crime" of being young, or because you don't think they pay you the "proper respect", or what.

I will say this (as an "old fart" myself): what I like about Che-Lives is that lack of respect for authority. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's the beginning of political wisdom.

As to what will become of the young here, who can say? There's a statistical probability that some of them will go back to a "comfortable" niche in the capitalist system and some will go on to become very serious and committed revolutionaries...but there's no reliable way to predict who will do what.

Until such time as they make a definite decision one way or the other, they all deserve respect.

Unfortunately, that's "old", not "middle-aged". But I understand your reluctance to discuss substantive politics when it's so much easier to just flame kids for not being properly deferential to such a "veteran" of the struggle as yourself.

And we know that Leninists are not "supposed" to have to actually defend their ideas in public...we are expected to flop on our bellies whenever the sacred texts are ceremonially displayed. To question them risks heresy; to deny them is blasphemy.

Some of the other Leninists have sufficient courage to defend their convictions (at least for a little while) in the Theory and Politics forums. You evidently prefer to lurk in Opposing Ideologies and erupt in periodic flames at someone you think might not know enough to be able to successfully confront your pretensions.

Unfortunately, I think the perceived attitude comes from frustration. I think we all feel it from time to time.

We all know the saying "actions speak louder than words" and lets face it, some people are more driven by that than others.

Sometimes I get depressed thinking that all this is just one big circle jerk, and we'll never make it happen or actually start it. I'm sure everyone here (on our side anyway) probably feels the same way.

Those of us that are a little older, and I'm sure that Redstar would concur, have watched this system for some time and it's getting monotonous. Maybe, because of our ages, we feel a bit more urgency. I certainly do. I can't speak for others however.

I don't know if Comrade RAF is a perceived threat to some here because of his actions and affiliations, or because some people may be jealous or envious. All I know is that for some reason, whenever RAF makes a statement or an opinion, there is a general line up of people bickering with him about his experiences, opinions, and hopes and dreams for a future/new communism.

A quick look at this thread is actually pretty revealing. This is in the OI forum and there is an on going battle between people that are supposed to be of the same general ideologies. This is the aspect I find most distressing. It makes me feel like nothing will ever come to fruition because there is so much pointless bickering amongst ourselves.

We all need to concentrate on the big picture I think.
I'm not taking any sides on this one, it's just some of my observances over the last couple of weeks. Believe me, I value your opinion SenoraChe, Zombie and RAF.

We should all try to make a conscious effort to learn and grow from each persons convictions, actions and ideologies. There are experiences on this board that you can't find anywhere else and we should value them all.


D- i just want you to understand that i did nothing to deserve the insults that have been thrown at me. All i did was ask both RAF and Zombie to take their flaming elsewhere, but i get attacked for it. D, you should know as well as others that i come on here, especially to OI to post my opinions and share my knowledge- not to flame. All i did was ask for them to take it elsewhere and i then get mocked and my intelligence gets questioned. And why? For asking them to take their flaming out of OI, which i think you would agree with!!! That is all i did- ask him to take it elsewhere. Then i found myself having to be defensive because he reacted so negatively.

I have nothing against RAFS political views, I actually wanted to read them, and exchange ideas. I have no reason to feel hatred and jealousy towards this man. He does his thing and i do mine. It has become obvious that we are both active in pushing for a change and that we are both passionate in what we do. However, what i do have a problem with is that he attacked me just for asking them to please stop flaming each other. I would have thought that he would understand and have aggreed that there was no need for these games. I did not ask him to take it (the flaming) elsewhere because i have hard feelings, but because there is no need for it in OI, which i think you would understand D.

So do you see what im saying? I have no harsh feelings, nor have i been part of the flaming. I have just asked them to take it elsewhere. It has nothing to do with RAFS views or experience, but i cant speak for everyone. I have noticed that some people do treat RAF harshly due to his views. However, i am not one of those people D. I just wanted him to stop taking part in the flaming or to do it privately or in chit chat.

RAF and D- i do understand your concerns however, that many people say they will do so much, but in reality do nothing. Words without action lead to no change. To be honest, i have wondered just how many of us have really went into action. and i am sure that many of us have, but others havent. For those that haven't please embrace those that have and learn from them- it can be extremely helpful. *Members- please do not take this the wrong way*
