I am a retired computer programmer from Maryland. Back in the 60s, I thought we should try to work within the system, that what was bad about the Lydon Johnson Great Society was going to get better, that the world of work would gradually become a kinder and better place for employees and that American society would gradually become more egalitarian. In retrospect, I sure was wrong! How did the Right Wing regain such complete and utter control of America, and what can we do about it, is what I am interested in hearing.

Welcome. :)
I fully agree. Egalitarian societies would make everybody's life better. I like to think of Capitalism as "Freedom for the wealthy".

Fellow old dude- Not having the computer experience of an average teenager, let alone yours, I had to send this continuation (Moderator- that's the reason for sequential posts) just to say that I too was there for the LBJ era, in time and in Maryland, including the '64 confrontation of Wallace in Cambridge. It's become clear to me that this System cannot continue, and less clear the nature of the New Beast slouching towards a post modern bethlehem.
