Wouldnt that mean they have more money than the person who doesnt have a husband or wife? If 2 people got married that is...the income would double, compared to the single person who only has 1 income...??

Well assuming they were to put their money together in a joint account or something and invest it, it would give them greater earning potential than the single person, however they would have to keep 2 people the single person would only be paying for themselves so would have lower expenses. Thats in capitalism, i think it would actually be less of an issue with socialism due to having more control of wages and goods.

well sometimes two people together live considerably cheaper than two individuals. my paretns discovered that when travelling soon after their marriage, it cuts down hotel costs and stuff.

well, i guess im screwed considering i am never getting married.

but seriously i think either way you are screwed. jobs are bascially paying shit. if people get married and then have kids, then they dont have more money then the single person. however, the single person is just as screwed, they have to pay everything alone, unless you get a roomate. am i making sense? im not in the right frame of mind at the moment :)
