recently iv taken up a sort of introduction course to judo in school and i really liked it and this got me thinking about starting to learn a martial art on a weekly basis so i can have a basic idea of how to get out of a sticky situation. im not that big a person but im pretty strong and fit and i would just like to learn how to use this to my advantage so i was just wondering what martial arts would you guys study and would you recommend it to me?

Krav maga is good if you can find it. If not i recommend kick boxing.

Well you might as well hang round the group if you're gonna become a regular martial artist.

I also have the ability to move the thread...but now that is a bit pointless. I suppose I'll just use my amazing mod powers and endorse checking out the social group.

Krav maga, wing chun, jiu jitsu, judo, muay thai and MMA

I've been having some bad incidents with violent drunks ever since I moved to the big city. So I knew that I had to start some sort of self-defence.
I started doing boxing at a gym that is literally 60m from my door. Everyone suggested I do it, because it teaches self defence and you get all the bonuses with it like toning up and building muscle. Something I realised over the last 6 months is that you can forget about getting a girlfriend if you cant protect her from all the insecure guys out there. But in saying that boxing has taught me how to kill someone, and has made me realise that its a last resort in any situation.
