As socialists, as we all are, we rely on class conciousness and revolutionary feeling in order, in whatever form, be it a vanguard, a revolutionary union, autonomously, etc, for the working class to seize control of the means of production and bring about the destruction of capitalism and the state.
I think we can all agree that revolutionary feeling and conciousness is not particularly high at the moment. World revolution is not looking likely.
So, surely our role as revolutionaries and socialists should be, primarily, propoganda and education? Ok, seems obvious, but I literaly mean all of our time and resources should be focused on producing and distributing revolutionary literature. Getting the message out. Plant the ideas, get the discussion going, and have our organisations open for the people who come. Snowball effect and hey, you have a strong workers movement, a revolution.
Ideas?

I think we should set about 'translating' leaflets, books etc into a more, excuse the term, layman's terms. People feel excluded due to the sometimes complicated language of leftist material.
Maybe we should start a new sticky which people can post material on to be translated. And then the less complicated material can be distributed.

Yeah that's pretty much what I've been doing.
Tips for a junior propagandist:
Spend a little bit of time working on stock answers you can give people who ask questions about socialism. Make it simple english (no jargon), have answers for their objections ready, and if you don't know the answer to something they ask don't act like you do. Just tell them you didn't think of that and you'll look into it or something.
Make what you're saying appeal to your audience. Make them aware of how they're getting screwed over. Tone down the anti-(your country here) rhetoric. Save that for later.
Think about their criticism and find answers for what they say. Use that to improve your "presentation".
And then, make huge orders at www.workerspress.com (http://www.workerspress.com) for revolutionist texts to hand out to people who are more interested.
fin.
I've been wanting to say all that for awhile. I remember how bad I was at explaining socialism not too long ago. It's painful to think about.

This is an alright idea. However, I think time is better spent writing one's own leaflets than making already existing ones easier to read.

Yeh good point. You can get inspiration from existing material. Then maybe the sticky thread could be used to post the more simply material made by us.
I have been having some trouble in finding simple material.
