Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi--the richest man in Italy--is granted immunity from prosecution for corruption while he holds office.

And by the time his term of office is over, the statute of limitations will have expired.

Don't you love it when there is a criminal in power. Still at least Berlusconi is a bit more open, everyone knows that his actions are all in support of the mafia and his businesses, with GW there is more secrecy

Yes he did beat the rap. He did not even have to try to beat it, according to the Italian Constitution he can not be prosecuted. He was not granted protection, he already had it.

What a stupid system, he can go on a gun rampage and not be prosecuted, such laws don't take into account the fact the politicians can commit crimes.
