Okay. Country A is Communist, and Country B is Capitalist. The country's relations are, and always have been somewhat strained. However, no hostilities have occured despite economic sanctions that both countries impose on one another. Both are of equal size and have equal military might. One day, a suicide bomber with ties toward Country B's government follows the leader of Country B's orders blows himself up in front of one of Country A's National Monuments and kills a number of civilians. What do you do in response?
The reason I ask is because most of you were against the war in Afghanistan, which in my opinion was necessary. Terrorists with ties to the Taliban attacked the World Trade Center, therefore that government needed to be brought to justice. Are you all against the war in Afghanistan because it protects American interests, and most of you want America to fall anyway? How can you really have an opinion on any American-led wars if you hate America unconditionally?
Just something that was bothering me. thanks.

Friend international politics and foreign policy are much too complex of issues to be discussed in a A and B fashion. Your post is simply babble.

guys, guys...hold it. Let's not get off claiming that 9-11 was staged. We can do better than that.
Comrade RAF is somewhat right. A and B scenarioes discount the complications that ARE foreign politics. Your analogy is too simple to be taken into serious consideration. You call the relations between the countries "strained". THis does not do justice to the truth. In reality, the Afghanies have more reason than we credit them for hating the U.$. To pass it off as a clash of values or even a religious obligation is a poor understanding of the facts.
Here: I'll give you a similar scenario. Country A: communist. COUntry B: capitalist. Country C is democratic, engaged in civil war with Country A. COuntry B has an obligation to protect Country C. SO they invade country A. THe war is not popular back home in country B, and Country A is not giving up, so country B gives up, abandons the treaty and returns home. Country C Becomes COuntry A.
I have just laid out the Vietnam/AMerican aggression, but, as you can see, this is not even worthy of being called a skeleton. We fail to mention Vietnam's history of the fight for independence, French aggression/imperialism, the threat of China, the corruption of Diem, etc. etc.
Allegories are fine for parables, but not for politics, and most certainly not to prove a political point.

Terrorists with ties to the Taliban attacked the World Trade Center...
...and guess who trained those "terrorists" to fight the Russians in Afghanistan, back in the good ol' days.
that's right, you got it.
i can even see a little smirk on your face, you little devil you.
that government needed to be brought to justice
Now does that include the whole country/civilian population/innocent women and children? Seems Bush thought so. Good night.

restrictedfreedom, stick around, read threads, ask questions, read a few books, watch the news, read the papers (of all political orientations). It'll do you good. You're not rambling, you didn't flame so you're not rambling and being useless. Please stick around, you don't have to live an ignorant life fed by today's culture, you can improve your mind and thinking powers and become a valuable member of society.

The "war" in Afghanistan had many ulterior motives behind it, including drugs.
You know that as soon as the United States government set up a different dictatorship that is "U.S.-friendly" all of the opium fields formerly closed by the Taleban (for religious reasons) were reopened? Everyone knows that drugs/illegal activities play a great role in capitalist economics.
So the war in Afghanistan was nothing but imperialism.
What about saudi Arabia? Most of the 9/11 hijackers were of Saudi decent, why not attack Saudi Arabia? CRUDE OIL, that's why.
