Hello,Im a Political Science major who is really into Communism and the 1917 Russian Revolution.I have read the Communist Manifesto and understand some basic Communist ideas but there are still a couple things that escape me.
1.Under Marxism,is there a currency of any kind?If yes,who decides who gets what and how much?
2.What is the police force(if any) like under a Marxist society?
Thanks in advance

Honestly, I don't think Marx really wrote that much about actual Communist society. I doubt he ever wrote anything about a police force under a Communist society, especially considering he said a Communist society would be stateless and classless.

There really isn't any "Marxist" society. In the Marxist sense what defines society is it's economic base. But then again you can also use society to refer to culture, like Muslim society, anglo-society etc.
In socialist society there is currency. No one decides how much someone receives, money doesn't get rationed out and you really can't do that on a large scale, I think inflation would rise to ridiculous1 high levels. Prices and wages are determined in relation to the overall economy. What is produced is based on needs of the community, then profit comes second. Then prices are determined in relation to realistic wages, how much is being produced etc. I don't know the excact process as I am not an economicist, it may work the other way round, or it may be both interdependent. But in socialist systems so far they usually have a centralised system, going from the actually production through to regional managament, then to the highest level of national management. If you read Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR by Stalin, you will find a general idea.
Economic Marxism is a whole other game, though coming form Political Science I assume you have glossed over various political theories.
Now in a Communist society, there is no currency. Human society has excelled to a point where production is done specifically for needs, then for pleasure. There is no need for political organisations inbetween, as everthing is a direct decision. Though it is generally a harder thing to imagine what will happen in a Communist society, this is a classless and stateless society. And alot of the discussion that goes on around here about what Communism will look like is frankly quite stupid as people make general guesses based on no scientific/materialist analysis of history and society. For that you really need to read Marx and Engels stuff on Historical materialism.

Critique of the Gotha Programme is always a good source for answering no.1, though it doesn't go too in-depth.

Marx believed that in communism, until labour was 'not just a means of life, but life's prime want', there would be labour credits. Only after scarcity was eliminated, and the above criterion was fulfilled, could one abolish that. He never went into detail in terms of crimefighting.
