I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but I don't know a whole lot about these two. Much of what I know basically comes from right-wing Mexican media commentators and my parents, who are strikingly conservative when it comes to Mexican politics (they were ardent supporters of the PAN). So outside of allegations of populism, dictatorship, and threatening to bankrupt the country, I have a largely one-sided view of the major left wing party in Mexico and its leading spokesman.

Any useful information on their views, their platform, and their actions would be appreciated.

I know some of it. I know it kind of split off from the PRI, and that their main spokesman until Lopez Obrador was Cuahutemoc Cardenas, who lost to Salinas de Gortari in a rigged election.
